earthenware with lead oxide, cobalt, tin, and engobe glaze, near cylindrical form with rounded shoulder, inscribed "18.71" in cobalt slip coloring with cobalt flourishes to lower body, stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO" to shoulder surrounded by cobalt border decoration, profusely decorated with brush applied cobalt slip flora decorations around the sides of the jug from base to shoulder and up the handle, thick applied strap handle, short straight spout, 9-1/2 in.
