John James Audubon and The Rev. John Bachman New York: V. G. Audubon, 1851, 1851, 1854, three volumes, second issue of Volume I, bound in contemporary half-leather over pebbled cloth, with four raised bands, gilt lettering and decorations on the spine, marbled endpapers, marbled edges, with 155 (complete) fine full-page color lithographic plates finished by William E. Hitchcock or Ralph Trembly after John James or John Woodhouse Audubon, printed by J.T. Bowen (131) of Philadelphia or Nagel and Weingaertner (24), though J.J. Audubon dies in 1851, publication of the work was finished in 1854 by his son John Woodhouse Audubon, 10-1/2 x 7-1/2 in. half-inch chip from the head of the spine, some wrinkling to the spine on Volume II, some rubbing at the extremities, a very good, attractive set.
