English, made for the Duke's second marriage in 1791, rich yellow ground with borders of faux pearls, reserves bearing the Baron's cipher and coronet within a ribboned wreath: two compotes, 4-1/8 x 8-5/8 in., gilt loss around central reserve; two lids with gilt-enhanced bold loop handles, 7-1/8 in. width, 3-1/2 in. loss to bottom edge of one; two shell-form dishes, 9-3/4 in., loss to gilt around central reserve and bowl rims, wear and some loss to yellow ground; two plates, 8-1/4 in., gilt wear, wear and loss to yellow ground, one with large stapled repair and associated chip . Notes: These pieces are from an important Derby dessert and tea service made for Francis-Reynolds Moreton, 3rd Baron Ducie, on the occasion of his second marriage in 1791 to Sarah, widow of Robert Child Esq. of Osterley and daughter of Paul Jodrell Esq.
