possibly English, early 19th century, wooden box covered outside with decoupage of natural material and inside with bright pink paper, 36 small pink and blue pasteboard boxes arranged in two levels (the range in top tray with gold braid corners) contain hundreds of small shells, thin gold-colored metal lion's paw feet on bottom corners and medallion on top of box, no marks, 4-1/2 x 9-3/4 in., generally good condition, little boxes are a bit worn and slightly grimy.
