Dolls Japanese, late 1940s, collection of wood, fabric, [gofun] and lacquer-decorated dolls, 3/4 in. to 6 in., including Boys and Girls Day dolls, children playing and dancing, most in original paper or wood boxes, (19 pieces). Condition: minor missing pieces and small damage, overall good condition. Notes: The largest boxed doll group shows two boys watching a leaf boat float downstream, with [tomobako] with inscription for “The River Wind Kawakaze by Hirata Eiko”. Prof. Bennett seemed to have a particular love for miniatures as the following lots show.
