Provenance: Estate of Dr. J. Francis and Laquita Amos, Rocky Mount, Virginia
Note: Said to be John Browns Cell door from the old Charles Town Jail which was torn down in 1919 where John Brown was held for two weeks after being captured at Harpers ferry in 1859. Said to have been purchased in 1996 from the last owner of the Civil War Showcase Museum in Harpers Ferry which closed in 1973. Turned up by a local citizen that found five of the original Charles Town Jail doors repurposed over windows in a Winchester area vinegar factory. He donated three to museums, Antietam, Charles Town, and the Harpers Ferry Civil War Showcase Museum. Similar example located at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum at the Visitor Center, see: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Detail_of_Door_from_John_Brown%27s_Jail_Cell_-_Museum_at_Visitor_Center_-_Gettysburg_National_Military_Park_-_Gettysburg_-_Pennsylvania_-_USA_(47701464372).jpg.
