of Belgian make, likely circa 1850's, round smooth bore 31 in. barrel, hallmarks to right barrel flat, encircled "ELG" with a star hallmark to top of barrel, back action lock plate marked "V&G" as well as trigger guard, walnut stock, stamped "M" at barrel tang and "P" to bottom of stock, barrel bands, sling mounts, bayonet lug, ramrod, overall length 45 in. - Provenance: From the Collection of Ashley Halsey, Jr., Alexandria and Spotsylvania, Virginia
