likely circa 1860's, .45 caliber, heavy octagonal 36-1/2 in. barrel, inscribed on right side "N.D.L., C.S.A, 1862", unmarked back action lock plate, double set triggers, brass trigger guard and butt plate, knurled hammer, brass ended 39-1/2 in. scope, walnut stock, overall length 51-3/4. weighs 26.5 lbs., wooden stand accompanies the lot - Note: Possibly produced during the Civil War, this weapon was utilized on both sides of the conflict due to it's long range capabilities. - Provenance: From the Collection of Ashley Halsey, Jr., Alexandria and Spotsylvania, Virginia

condition consistent with age and use, wear, oxidation, scratches, some pitting to barrel and other steel parts, three drill holes to underside of barrel, brass parts with wear, dings, dents, scratches and some paint to wood stock, crack around top of handle of stock approximately 2-1/2 in., repair to wood at but of stock, set triggers appear to functionÿ
