British, 17th century, hinged lid opening to a divided interior, over single long drawer, case with applied moldings and half turnings, inlaid panels of bone and mother of pearl, set on ball feet, 32-1/2 x 50-1/2 x 26 in. - Provenance: Property from an Important Southern Collection
feet replaced, scattered losses to inlaid panels, interiors lined in modern felt (not completely removed for exam), later interior divider, replacements and possible later additions to applied moldings and ornament (drawer facing with evidence of previous brasses, now covered by applied moldings), some minor shrinkage to panels, later bracings at underside of top, other typical cracks and separations, wear and other possible restorations
