19th century, the dial signed "Peter Poignand, Jersey", with arched painted dial with moon phase, seconds sweep and date aperture, eight day brass movement, in a mahogany Gothic inspired case with arched bonnet, waisted case with arched door flanked by Gothic cluster columns, with pendulum, two weights, and winder, 97 in. - Provenance: Private North Carolina Collection
crackle and wear to dial paint with some flaking, especially at date ring, case with replaced finials and fretwork, other scattered surface and veneer flaws and repairs, Corinthian capitals with some verdigris, pendulum bob replaced, feet replaced, shrinkage crack at base panel, works and case probably a good match (case uprights fitted with later risers)
