Side Chair Philadelphia area, mid-18th century, serpentine crest rail over a solid splat, cabriole legs with pad feet, original slip seat, dry varnished surface with rich mellow brown color, 39-1/2 in. excellent overall condition, minor crack at one front leg, slip seat and seat frame marked "II", lacking some glue blocks for seat frame, other typical wear and flaws. Provenance: With original receipt from Dorsey Griffith Antiques, New Market, Maryland, dated 1962; Trela Antiques, Baldwin, Maryland, 2002; Private Collection, Asheville, North Carolina
