Poster Bedstead
attributed to Maryland or possibly Caribbean, 1820-1830, boldly turned head and foot posts, solid figured mahogany shaped headboard and solid mahogany rails, canopy frame, 92-1/2 x 63 x 82 in., accompanied by custom-made Scalamandre bed hangings, excellent condition, minor surface wear, abrasions and some spotting and areas of sun fading, some possible loss of height at bottom of feet(?) (good compression and wear, design seems unusual), later metal rails to accommodate queen-size mattress, one leg with red accession number 78.46; Scalamandre fabric with very light wear.
