circa 1807-1810, New York, likely Duncan Phyfe, shaped drop leaf top, frieze drawer and opposing faux drawer with banded decoration, reeded tapered legs, brass cuffs, casters, 29 x 36 x 24-3/4 in.

Note: This drop leaf table relates closely to the early work of Duncan Phyfe during the latter part of the Federal period. The reeded legs, banded decoration, and elliptical top are strikingly similar to a circa 1807 card table illustrated in Duncan Phyfe, Master Cabinetmaker in New York by Peter Kenny et. al (pl. 5, pg. 165).

Condition

in a fine state of overall preservation, attractive surface, color and figuring (well preserved), well polished finish, hardware appears to be original, top with scattered marks within polish, minor veneer shrinkages, some small veneer repairs, and other general wear expected with age and use

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
