probably Pennsylvania or Ohio, 1790-1810, arched and painted dial with conch shell spandrels and basket of fruit arch, seconds sweep and date aperture, two weights and pendulum, set in an inlaid waisted case with scrolled pediment with carved rosettes, quarter fan and line inlay, poplar secondary, 94-1/2 x 21 x 11 in. - Provenance: Private Collection, Kingsport, Tennessee

Condition

dial generally good with scattered paint losses and one area of retouch at number 7, probably original saddle board, case with restored feet, probably restored finials, some restorations to upper backboards (reversed or restored) , rosettes appear to be original, some later color retouch at box base with associated discoloration (probably applied at the time of the foot restoration) , other scattered minor sun fading, surface distress, and minor repairs, case and works probably a good match (case uprights fitted with later shims)
Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
