probably Connecticut or Rhode Island, late 18th century, figured single board dished mahogany top tilting over baluster turned support, cherry battens, 29 x 20 x 20-1/4 in. - Provenance: Descent in the Cole family, possibly from George Washington Cole (Newport 1782-1860) a member of the Rhode Island Society of the Cincinnati; LeCompte Estate, Lynchburg, Virginia
cracks and old brass repair to block for top, underside of base with original iron spider, no leg repairs found (two feet with later risers), minor abrasions and losses to top
