(French, born 1940s) heavy studio glass disc with small opening at top, base signed "Begou 7K51", 14-3/4 x 14-3/4 x 3-1/4 in., minor base scratches. Notes: Alain, "master glassblower" and wife Marisa "creates the coloring and graphic designs." Consignor met the artists in a Copenhagen gallery and purchased this work in 1998. The consignor was for ten years a member of the Penland School of Crafts Board, Spruce Pine, NC, and had the opportunity to know many of the glass artists there and watch the creative process. Over numerous years, this consignor took a deep interest in traveling, meeting top artists, some in their studios and homes, others in gallery shows and began collecting important Art Glass in various venues within the U.S.A. and abroad..
