probably Charlestown, Massachusetts, 1812, five bands of letters and number over a verse surrounded by floral vines, crenulated floral border, stitched below verse, "Rebeka A Baker/Charlstown[sic] 1812" above "RABHP" and an "R" at the very bottom, silk on canvas, 15-1/2 x 15-1/2 in. (sight); later gilt frame. Condition: two creases of discoloration and wear along vertical borders, fading, scattered small holes and stains. Notes: The six line verse is by Isaac Watts (1674-1748) an English minister whose
verses were often used by young girls on their sampler and needlepoint pictures.
