Lewin accompanies lot). Notes: Built in part by Richard, Earl of Cornwall in 1233, Tintagel Castle has long been associated with the legend of King Arthur. In Geoffrey of Monmouth's [Historia Regum Britanniae], written in the 12th century, Tintagel is referred to as the place of Arthur's conception.
