New Hampshire, possibly shop of Judkins and Senter, 1800-11815, inlaid bowfront top over four graduated drawers, each with vibrant highly figured birch panels, with inlaid banded surrounds, original brasses, skirt with bookmatched flame birch double panel with inlaid surround, tall French feet, 38-1/2 x 41 x 22-1/2 in.

Note: A closely related chest of drawers is in the collections of the Rundlet-May House in Portsmouth, collection of SPNEA, see Jobe, Portsmouth Furniture, catalog no. 11. The highly figured bookmatched veneered panels and conforming bookmatching of the skirt drop panel recalls the veneer treatment of the Judkins and Senter secretary bookcase, catalog no. 33.

excellent condition, original feet, skirt drop, and blocking, top with shrinkage cracks and surface warping with areas of color retouch (later bracing at underside), other typical shrinkage cracks, checking to veneers, other minor surface flaws
