Plated Center Bowl stamped mark for Christofle, Paris, circa 1885, 562438, silver-plated and gold-painted removable insert in an elaborate conforming frame set with heavy gilt bronze openwork designs of scrolling foliage and floral passages, centering cartouches with "V" possibly for the Vanderbilt family, underside of insert bright cobalt plated or painted and showing through openwork decoration, 8 x 25-3/4 x 14 in., insert very slightly bent and with repairs and retouch at handles, surface distress and staining overall with flaking to blue paint at underside, probably later gold paint at interior with stains and distress, bronze frame good overall with tarnish, surface dirt and other minor surface distress.
