The pointed slipper foot is an important feature in identifying New York as the origin of this tray top tea table, a rare form from the area. A similar example is in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago (acc. no. 1981.290) and another is in American Antiques from Israel Sack Collection, Vol. II. (1969), p. 307, no. 753. Other objects with identical feet are illustrated in Dean Failey, Long Island is My Nation (1998), pp. 118-21, nos. 138-40, Joseph Downs, American Furniture: Queen Anne and Chippendale Periods (1952), no. 108 and 318 and David Barquist, American Tables and Looking Glasses in the Mabel Brady Garvan and Other Collections at Yale University (1992), pp. 90-1, no.18.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item.
