Note: According to consignor notes, the monogram reading "Detroit" indicates this piece was customized for Russell House, a famous hotel located in Detroit, Michigan. The relief may be similar to a mug reported in the Union Porcelain Works exhibition at the Philadelphia Centennial, which was described as a drunken sailor being dragged away by an authority figure.
