(sight); painted wood frame,. Notes: Likely a scene inspired from Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe published in 1852. Tom and Eva were popular characters from the novel and were often the subject of schoolgirl needleworks from that era.. Provenance: Private Collection
