including Treaty between France and America dated December 24, 1800, Printed Broadside from the "Massachusetts Spy," one sheet, printed on both sides, an historic broadside reporting the treaty with France under John Adam's administration, which averted an all-out war with France, signed in print by Oliver Ellsworth, W. R. Davie, W. V. Murray, etc., 10-1/2 x 17-1/4 in., overall toning, water stain at the center of the document, otherwise very good, housed in a custom chemise and leather backed cloth slipcase with gilt lettering, as new; together with: a letter signed by Oliver Ellsworth, William Davie, and William Murray, to the American minister to England, Rufus King, dated October 1, 1800, notifying King that the convention has just been signed, Ellsworth, Davie and Murray, negotiated the convention of Mortefontaine with France, 8-3/4 x 8-1/2 in., some scattered toning otherwise very good, housed in a custom clamshell case, cloth with leather backing, five raised bands, morocco spine labels, marbled paper interior, as new; with receipt for treaty from Nate Sanders, with receipt for letter from William Reese Company
