Cameroonian, Western Grassfields area, possibly late 19th/20th century, one baboon form with traces of white pigment coloring eyes and teeth, notched decoration to top of head, metal hanging attachment verso, 12-1/4 x 10-1/4 x 8-1/2 in.; one Babanki or Oku style example, elder mask in the form of a face with large jowls, open mouth, and large almond shaped eyes, surmounted by large reticulated crest/headpiece, approximately 21-1/2 x 14-1/2 x 8-1/2 in.

Condition

surface dirt layer and accretion, scattered surface scratches, cracks, and small chips throughout; baboon form with heavy losses to pigment, probably natural void at top of head, large crack/separation at top of head verso, likely missing some elements (many unused holes at edges, possibly for fiber adornments/fringe)
