REMINGTON & SONS, ILLION, N.Y." on top of octagonal to round barrels, the shorter rifle has 24 in. barrel with serial number 18 in chamber and on lever assembly, ring front sight and flip up rear sight, the longer rifle has a 28 in. barrel, 867 serial number in receiver, on lever assembly and trigger guard tang, blade front sight and split rear sight, both have walnut stocks with iron butt plates, 39-1/4 and 43-1/4 in. overall

the breech on the longer Beals rifle appears larger that the shorter Beals Rifle, not sure if there is a difference in caliber, longer rifle with heavy patina, large area of pitting to left side of barrel, handling wear and abrasions, worn finish on wood, action appears to function properly, trigger will set, shorter rifle appears to have been cleaned, tarnish on metal components, wear to wooden stock, lever action works, trigger will not cycle properly
