Landrum, Horse Creek Valley, Edgefield District, South Carolina, mid 1800's, storage jar, olive green runny mottled alkaline glaze, Landrum "cross" stamp to shoulder, applied lug handle, flared rim, 15-1/4 in.; ovoid jug form, runny green alkaline glaze over clay body, under fired glaze on lower body. angled strap handle, double collared spout, 14-1/4 in. - Provenance: Collection of Dr. Joseph T. and Gaile E. glaze voids and anomalies as made, kiln debris, jar with loss of lug handle, 1-1/2 and 3/4 in. chips to rim, various other small chips around rim, abrasions wear and chips to glaze throughout, firing separations to interior, jug with rim chip and repairs to rim, extensive hairlines that are stabilized on spout and down onto several areas on shoulder of jug extending around handle and side of jug, three hairlines on entire base, possible restorations to base edgeÿ
Condition
Purchased items not picked up in Richmond by noon on Sunday will then be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
