circa 1830s, view of two figures standing by a large monument inscribed "Sacred in the Memory of Mr. John Cobb Jr. who died Augst 30th 1823 aged 23 Years", with lock of hair lower right corner, watercolor and ink on velvet, 19 x 20-1/4 in., probably original painted wood frame with sand cove molding, 23-1/2 x 25 in.; view of woman and young child standing beside two large monuments, willow tree and village in background, larger monument inscribed "Sacred in the Memory of Mrs. Chloe Stone who died April 7th 1820 Aged 24 Years", braided ring of hair pinned to lower right of monument, smaller monument inscribed "In Memory of Clifford Stone who died Feb. 3 1831 aged 18 months", watercolor and ink on velvet, 19-1/4 x 20-1/4 in., probably original painted wood frame with sand cove molding, 24 x 25 in. - Note: The typed label verso indicates that that John Cobb Jr. commemorated in one theorem was the brother of Mrs. Chloe Stone who is commemorated in the companion theorem. The Stone family lived in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Exhibited: Farnsworth Museum, Wellesley, Massachusetts, February 1950 (labels verso). - Provenance: Mrs. Helen S. Cobb memorial with some foxing and fading; Stone memorial with water damage at bottom and stains around right willow tree, tear or crease upper right, overall fading and foxing
Purchased items not picked up in Richmond by noon on Sunday will then be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
