British, 18th/19th century, comprising: one example of elongated octagonal form with conch shell, urn, and flower inlay, converted to a jewelry box(?), hinged lid opening to lidded interior with two fitted removable trays, bone or ivory escutcheon, 4-3/4 x 7-3/8 x 4-1/4 in.; one example of elongated hexagonal form with conch shell inlay, hinged lid opening to divided, lidded double compartment interior, 5 x 10-1/4 x 4-5/8 in. Note: From a private collection representing 18th and 19th century tea caddies and boxes of various designs from America, Britain, Asia and Europe.

Condition

scattered surface scratches and bumps, lids slightly warped (do not sit completely level), small chips and losses to inlay, some cracks and separations throughout, possible reveneering and later restorations throughout; hexagonal example with repair to lid edge at one corner

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
