possibly Sanford Boon, husband of Lucretia Goldsmith, older sister of the artist, 1829-1831, oil on board, not apparently signed, accompanied by a gicl?e of the painting, 15 x 11-3/4 in.; wood frame, 20 x 17 in.; Portrait of a Lady, inscribed lower left "J. F. Johnson, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa 1886", oil on canvas, 29 x 24 in.; rosewood frame, 35-1/2 x 30-1/4 in.

Provenance: Descended in the family of Deborah Goldsmith; Property sold to benefit the American Folk Art Museum

portrait of Sanford Boon with significant crackle and small areas of loss, retouch and modern varnish; frame with wear; Portrait of a Lady, appears to have been selectively cleaned and with modern varnish coat

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
