Our Mountains, Plains, and Pueblos auction opens with Black Forest, Lodge, and Adirondack furniture and decorative arts from a unique mountain home in Linville, North Carolina. Pueblo pottery follows, featuring an important monumental Zia Dough Bowl; Native American highlights include painted parfleches, beadwork, a Lakota Ledger Drawing, Cherokee Double Weave and other baskets, trading post textiles, a monumental Kwakiutl carving; fine art by E. I. Couse, Jack Swanson and others; a significant group of Western bronzes by Harry Jackson and others; silver and turquoise jewelry, and much more.

20th century, the largest a double weave rectangular market type basket, circa 1960, possibly by Eva Wolfe (Qualla Boundary, 1922-2004), 6-1/2 x 14-1/2 x 9 in.; together with a circa 1960-65 attributed to Eva Wolfe double weave trinket basket, 4-1/2 x 9 x 8-3/4 in.

Note: This lot is accompanied by Data Collection Sheets from the McClung Museum "Rethinking Cherokee Basketry Project", for each of the baskets.  Each sheet refers to Eva Wolfe as possibly maker, and includes dye information et al. The baskets were not included in a related exhibition in 1990-91, but the sheets are informative and important, nonetheless.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
