Springfield, Massachusetts, embossed copper decorated with an eagle above clasped hands (signifying the Union), surrounded by an oval of 26 stars, with a panoply of arms, colors, and a shield bearing the initials of the United States, similar to an earlier design by Nathan Ames, one deeply patinated, marked at spout "1857/Batty/Springfield Mass"; one with lightly patinated body, marked at top of spout "1856/Batty/Springfield Mass", both  7-3/4 in. (flask only)

Condition

first in good condition with light dents, abrasions, narrow gap at seam (still functional); second with polish residue, gaps at seam, abrasions, dents, spout intact
