probably Ming dynasty, one with double ring and character mark, painted with panels of stylized lotus and lingzhi motifs, swirl center, 2-7/8 x 6-1/4 in.; one painted with honeycomb pattern on the exterior, beaded swags along the interior, 2-5/8 x 6 in.

Provenance: Sotheby Parke Bernet, New York, NY, Sale 3622, Lot 48, purchased April 10,1974 for $130 (lingzhi example accompanied by copy of receipt); Estate of Virginia B. Story, North Wilkesboro, North Carolina

Note: The lingzhi bowl was exhibited at the Mint Museum of Art, November 3, 1980, from North Carolina China Council.

Condition

lingzhi example with two filled rim chips, honeycomb example with small rim chip, rough foot/kiln debris, tiny hairline (under the glaze), scratches, surface dirt

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
