of Corinthian Columns from the Temple of Vespasian
Continental, 19th century, one group of three deeply fluted Corinthian columns and entablature arranged as a corner from the building is mounted on a marble plinth, 13-1/2 in., [two columns broken and repaired, a few nicks and chips, small hole drilled in plinth]; and a smaller model of three fluted Corinthian columns on a wall mounted on stone plinth, 11-7/8 in., [good condition]. Condition: . Notes: The Temple of Vespasian by Canina is on the Clivus Capitolinus above the Roman Forum and is famous for its beautiful Corinthian columns. Restored in modern times by the French government following their discovery during the French invasion, the building had been previously restored (hence the inscription "ESTITVER") by Septimius Severus and Caracalla.
