Decorated Mississippian Period Bowl
American, Woodlands Period: carved stone bone effigy pipe, found in the 1940s/1950s by Sartsman and Zirkie at Indian Town, Culpepper County, Virginia, at the confluence of the Rappadan and Rappahannock Rivers, 4-1/4 in., accompanied by an article discussing the Sartsman and Zirkie discovery; caved stone pipe and stem, oval bowl, found at Indian Town, by Sartsman and Zirkie, 2-1/2 in., good condition; carved clay elbow-shaped pipe, Woodlands Period, found at Camden, Caroline County, on the Rappahannock River, Virginia, two bands of indented holes on outside of bowl, 4-3/8 in., break and repair to stem, (Gordon Barlow Collection); coiled pottery bowl with flat top rim, geometric designs, probably Mississippian Period, 3-1/4 x 5-1/16 in., old breaks and repairs, (Tony Gilyard Collection) .
