late 1800s early 1900s, Albany slip glazed jug, large incised figural depiction of a man on one side of jug, smaller incised figural depiction of man smoking on other side of jug, stamped "2" at shoulder, ridged strap handle, ridged curved neck, flared spout, possibly Georgia made,12-3/4 in.; large Albany slip glazed jug, covered in incised inscriptions, "Montgomery Ala" on base, "Birmingham' in several places on body, several other indiscernible inscriptions on body, ridged neck, straight spout, arched strap handle with tail, made in Alabama, 13-1/4 in.; small storage jar, dark green alkaline glaze, ovoid footed form, inscribed with Indiscernible inscription " Bare Turnn & Minshews?", incised rings at belly, curved neck, collared flared rim, lid shelf, unknown maker, 8-3/4 in.

Note: A similar Albany slip glazed jug with incised moonshining figural depictions was featured in the Missing Pieces: GEORGIA FOLK ART 1770-1976 touring exhibition in 1977 with catalog, that jug is pictured on page 93. It was then featured in the Southern Folk Potter Collectors Society July 2023 sale "The Beautiful Clay, lot 62, where it realized $3700.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
