polychromed ceramic horse's head, probably terracotta, traces of red and white pigment, mounted on wooden plinth, 8 in., generally good condition, surface wear and pigment losses, minor chips and wear at edges, lacking ears; together with a figure of a recumbent cat or dog, probably terracotta, traces of pigment, probably Six Dynasties period, 4 x 5-1/2 in., surface wear and pigment losses; glazed cement figure of a duck, possibly Sui or Tang Dynasty, 4-1/4 in., extensive glaze losses and wear, roughness and chips at foot ring . Provenance: Horse head with sticker for Ralph M. Chait; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, acquired 1925 and 1973
