Note: The Burnside Carbine has "Lu PD Peo, 26th Va Batt" inscribed to left side of stock. Thought to be a captured Union carbine with Confederate inscription. We have some speculation on file about the name inscribed on stock, thought to be Lt. PD Peck, from the 26th Virginia Battalion. Kerr's patent revolvers were manufactured from 1859-1866 by the London Armory Company. Most of the 11,000 produced were sold to Confederate purchasing agents. Production of these revolvers became dependent on the Confederate need to such a degree that once the war was over the company went out of business in about a year's time.
