Note: The 60-year period between 1770 and 1830 has long been regarded as the golden age of English caricature. Of the many talented practitioners, Horace Walpole styled Henry William Bunbury "the second Hogarth". Thomas Rowlandson was a close associate of Bunbury and the artist George Morland and they often collaborated and went on sketching tours together. There is a similar Rowlandson sketch- portrait of Morland, now in the British Museum and another in the Mellon Collection.
