likely made at the Thomas Chandler Pottery, Kirksey's Crossroads, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850s, light green celadon glaze, applied kaolin slip banner decoration to front and back shoulder of jar, applied looping kaolin slip decoration under both applied lug handles, curved neck, tooled semi round rim, 14-1/2 in.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.

glaze voids and anomalies as made, surface wear and abrasions, discoloration to glaze as made, 2-1/2 in. loss to edge of one handle, 2-3/4 in. loss to the edge of the other handle, white paint residue, 4 in. stabilized hairline up from base edge, evident in interior, hairline across entire base interior, then up on to the side of the jar interior, then around base edge towards the other hairline, all stabilized and evident in interior, illumination of exterior base under black light likely due to residue
