probably Tennessee, early 19th century, cherry with poplar secondary, hinged lid opening to divided interior with two finely dovetailed removable boxes (probably for sugar), over two dovetailed drawers with inlaid escutcheons, turned legs, 27-1/2 x 36-1/2 x 18 in.
patch at hinges at back edge of top (top appears to be original), distress at escutcheons (two replaced), later glass knobs with losses, typical bumps and wear at base moldings, other minor surface flaws and distress, stains and finish losses to top, minor shrinkage separations, mellow old finish with typical scattered distress and wear
