Tall Case Clock early 19th century, arched painted dial, brass movement, waisted case with turned feet, partly legible inscriptions, period pendulum, 78-1/2 x 19-1/2 x 11 in.. Notes: Back of dial inscribed "Repaired by Morris Opperman, November 1908 Montgomery Ala." Possibly the same Mr. White mentioned in Namuni Hale Young‘s, Art & Furniture of East Tennessee, Plate 49, page 28, referencing the works of a Greene County clock with a notation of repair by G.W. White in 1892.. Provenance: Enclosure dated 1987 indicates it was "purchased from a Mr. White, a jeweler in Nashville, Tennessee"; Private Collection

case refinished, one scalloped ornament on hood replaced, dial with surface wear and paint losses (dial possibly imported), minor chips at corners of dial, works and case appear to be a good match, pendulum rod broken
