Variation of the Virginia Eagle circa 1906, relief casting of gold and enamel eagle, obverse: depiction of three senators presenting sword to Cincinnatus, wife and child at door, with encircled motto on white enamel, "OMNIA: RELIQUIT:ERVARE:REMPUMBLICAM, reverse: Cincinnatus standing at plow with encircled motto, "SOCIETAS: CINCINNATORUM: INSTITUTA: AD 1783", 18 kt. (tested) yellow gold, 2-5/8 x 1-1/8 in. (medal only), 26 grams, good condition. Notes: Insignia of the Society of the Cincinnati began in 1783 as a hereditary society of officers of the Continental Army.
