American, first quarter 19th century, eight rows of letters and numbers over log cabin, animals and trees, stitched bottom "CAROLINE RUGG was born in Rindge May 30 1808", sawtooth inner and outer border, undulating floral border top and one side (unfinished), silk on linen, 16 x 16 in.
