Smt. Shanti Devi, one of the most acclaimed Dalit painters, born in a small village of Mithila, Seema Gram of Madhubani district. She was practicing art for more than 40 years and received State Award in 1979, National Tamrapatra Award 1984, Ashok Chakra, 1985, Chetna Samiti Awards, 1993 and many others. To paint and exhibit Mithila art, she has traveled to many countries including Hungary, Denmark, UAE and Japan.
She is the most vocal Mithila painter in the present time and a vociferous advocate of Dalit artisans of Mithila region, on the different socio-economic and cultural fronts.
