probably 20th century, some possibly earlier, four nickel silver necklaces presented in shadow box frame, two with relief decoration and two with intersecting chains, all four approximates 8 x 9 in.; three nickel silver necklaces presented in shadow box frame, all four with relief decorations of dragons and other mythological animals, with dropped charms or bells, size ranging from 14 x 11 in. to 22 x 20 in. overall good condition. Notes: Intricate silver necklaces, crowns, hairpins, bracelets and earrings are traditionally
worn by ladies of the Miao culture. They are worn at festivals and special occasions
for aesthetic appreciation as well as to ward off evil spirits and as a symbol of wealth.. Provenance: Private Collection, Asheville, North Carolina
