Paint-Decorated and Silk-Upholstered Chairs Continental, 19th century, gray-painted beechwood frames with leaf and bellflower carved decoration, striped silk upholstery, one large armchair 37-1/2 x 25 x 23 in., three slightly smaller armchairs 36 x 23 x 22 in., four side chairs 35-3/4 x 19 x 18-1/2 in., some cracks at joints of arms to rear stiles, some wear and minor chips at crest rails, early repaint with surface wear, abrasions and scattered paint losses especially at legs and arms, upholstery generally good condition with scattered surface wear and stains.
