Little Kickapoo, 1974, edition 1/10, signed lower right "Sam Gilliam 74", inscribed with title lower left, embossed (rope and woven belt), screenprint on A-P. Etching (France) paper, 29-3/4 x 39-3/4 in.; metal frame, 30-1/8 x 40-1/8 in.

Note: Sam Gilliam was an innovative color field painter who advanced the inventions associated with the Washington Color School. The Hirshhorn museum mounted his first sole exhibition in Washington, DC as a tribute to the artist and in his memory. Sam Gilliam: Full Circle (May 25-September 11, 2022), celebrated the artist's last works, most of which were executed in tondo.
