Mahogany Bow-Front Chest
carving attributed to the school of Samuel McIntire, circa 1810, outset biscuit corners over fruit and cornucopia carved posts with punchwork ground, bow-front drawers with highly figured veneers and original brass pulls, turned legs, 42 x 45-1/2 x 22 in.. Provenance: descended in the family of Joseph Allen of Portsmouth and later Providence; David Dunton, Woodbury, Connecticut, 1985 (accompanied by copy of receipt); Property from the Duke Family Collection
excellent condition overall, refinished, scattered minor veneer patches to bandings and skirt, minor dents and distress to brasses
