(Dutch, 1592?1655)A Breakfast Still Life, 1643, a banquetje with strawberries in a wan-li bowl, ham and bread on pewter plates, walnuts, a bekerschroef with a berkemeier glass, grapes and an open chronometer or watch dated "1643", unsigned, oil on panel, 26-3/4 x 31-3/4 in.; modern ripple molding frame, 36-3/8 x 42 in.Note: Brunk Auctions would like to thank Dr. Fred Meijer for his additional authentication of this painting as being by Roelof Koets I. According to Dr. Meijer the painting previously had a Pieter Claesz monogram and date 1643. While the devices used are those often used by Claesz and while the artists often collaborated, he believes the work to be entirely that of Koets.This lot was also authenticated by Dr. Sam Segal, in 1985 and by˜Ingvar Bergstr?m in 1984, both˜after viewing it in person. A photo certificate from Segal accompanies the lot. Purchased items will then be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
